Daedalus and Icarus – Agia Galini
In Agia Galini lies the cave of Daedalus, where, according to myth, he hid together with his son Icarus while being pursued by King Minos. They managed to fly toward freedom using improvised wings held together with wax. The rock that Daedalus and Icarus used as the base for their flight is located on the right side of the harbor, overlooking the sea, recalling their fateful journey. At this spot stand two statues, those of Daedalus and Icarus at the moment they are preparing for their flight.
The monument dedicated to Daedalus and Icarus was created in recent years.
